Welfare
School Welfare Officer - Mrs Carly Lopez
Your child's wellbeing is important to us. If at anytime they are unwell or have an accident, we have several members of staff trained in first aid. Mrs Lopez leads this team and is well known to all the children. If your child has a medical care plan or has any new medical needs, please contact Mrs Lopez by emailing office@bwi.org.uk
All prescribed medication including creams and lip balms will need a ‘Consent Form’, which is available at the bottom of this page, and sent in along with a photo/letter of the prescription. No medication, unless lifesaving or prescribed, will be given unless we have permission from parents/carers first.
If your child has an accident at school, this will be recorded on our school system and you will receive a message via Medical Tracker for your own records.
If your child is unwell and won't be attending school/nursery, please ensure you call the absence line (0208 954 3978) by 8.30am each day to inform the school and give the reason for the absence.
It is our policy to follow the guidelines set out by the NHS for all illness. You can find more information about illnesses here: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/
Medical Tracker
Medical Tracker allows us to inform parents and carers of first aid incidents and medication administration by email. It also safeguards data and allows us to analyse our records, and decreases the environmental impact associated with the use of paper communications.
Medical Tracker is beneficial to you because:
- We can record and track first aid incidents that involve your child
- We can record and track medication administration that involves your child
- You can be notified promptly after a first aid incident by email
- You can be notified promptly after medication has been administered by email
Please be assured that Medical Tracker is registered with the Data Protection Registrar and guarantees that all information you provide will be kept private and will not be passed on to any other organisation.
Important – Email communication will be sent from donotreply@medicaltracker.co.uk. Please add this address to your email address books (or approved sender list) to prevent messages from being blocked by your spam or junk filters.
Nut free school
We have children and adults across the school with severe nut allergies. Therefore we maintain a strict no-nuts policy. Please check the ingredients list of any food you send in for snacks, lunchboxes and school trips for nuts. If you are unsure whether a food is safe for nut allergies, please contact the school office.
Winter and Spring
Please ensure that your child brings a coat to school every day. Please put your child’s name on the items of clothing, including gloves, hats and scarves.
Summer/Hayfever
As we come into Spring, we know that a number of children need antihistamines. We ask that you give this to your child before school, but if they need it before they come home with you, please ensure you have sent the relevant medication into school and have completed a consent form. Consent forms should be handed to the School Office or emailed to office@bwi.org.uk
Summer hats are encouraged in warm weather and if your child needs to wear sunglasses due to hayfever then they can, but the school will not take responsibility for loss. Suncream needs to be applied before school, we are not able to apply this in school.
